Summer Safety

Summer is just around the corner. BPOU wants to take this month to focus on summer safety, preparing you and your loved ones to have fun while also staying safe. One way to keep safe is to learn about water safety and drowning prevention. Drowning consistently remains the leading cause of death for children aged 1 to 4 years. Young children are more at risk and can drown in any body of water, including a bucket, bathtub, sink, pool, or spa. African-American children ages 5 to 19 drown in swimming pools at rates 5 times higher than Caucasian children in the same age range.
