What made you become a doctor?
I became a doctor because I’ve always wanted to make a real difference in people’s lives. Medicine felt like the perfect way to combine science, problem-solving, and the human connection that’s so important in helping others. I was drawn to pediatrics because of the opportunity to have a meaningful impact on children and their families during some of the most challenging moments in their lives.
Who encouraged or mentored you on your way to becoming a doctor?
I’ve been lucky to have mentors who guided me along the way. Some of them were incredible physicians who showed me how powerful a combination of clinical skill and compassion can be. They inspired me to aim for the highest standards of care while staying grounded in empathy. My family also played a big role, always encouraging me to follow my passion, even when the path was tough or uncertain.
In what way do you think BPOU will benefit Utah?
BPOU will play a crucial role in improving healthcare in Utah by fostering connections between physicians and communities that need support the most. The organization can help address gaps in access to care by providing opportunities for mentorship, education, and advocacy. From my own experience, I know how much patients value seeing physicians who truly understand their unique needs and experiences. BPOU’s efforts to strengthen physician networks and empower future generations of healthcare providers will ultimately lead to better outcomes and a stronger healthcare system for everyone in Utah.
